Compression Stocking Therapy for Patients with CVIStudy Objective- To evaluate the effectivenss of gradient compression, vascular stockings, in managing CVI
Methodology- Prospective study evaluated 36 patients with venous recovery times of <20 seconds
- Individual venous recovery times were tested
- Venous recovery times (VTR) <20 seconds was considered to be abnormal, indication venous valve incompetence
- Patients with valve incompetence wore 25-35 mmHg, 30-40 mmHg, or 35 mmHg knee length vascular support stockings
Conclusions- Overall, 35 of 36 limbs (97.2%) were normalized by compresssion stocking therapy
- 21 of 36 limbs (58.3%) were normalized with 25-35 mmHg
- 9 of remaining 15 limbs (60%) were normalized with 30-40mmHg
- 5 of remaing 6 limbs (83.3%) were normalize with 35 mmHg custom stockings

- 119 patients evaluated, hoverver, six were excluded from analysis due to inability to complete study
- All patients were fitted with gradient compression stockings
Conclusions- Complete ulcer healing was achieved in 105 of 113 patients (93%) in a mean of 5.3 months
- The ulcers of eight patients (7%) failed to heal in a mean treatment period of 16 months
- Five of the eight patients were consistently non-compliant with elastic compression stockings
